- Godme Pere et Fils Blanc de noir
- Tendil et Lombardi Blanc de noir
- Paul Dethune Blanc de noir
Blanc de Noir champagnes are made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. They are much more robust than champagnes with a chardonnay blend and as such are a very good accompaniment to a meal.
Godmé Pere et Fils is a champagne house that is situated in the Grand Cru village of Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims. Hugues and Sabine Guillaume practice ‘reasoned farming’ and their wines should be declared biodynamic very soon.
Their Blanc de Noir is a distinctly gastronomique wine. It is quite robust, with a lot of character and pairs well with a meal.
Colour – Deep Golden
Bubbles – robust
Nose – spices, fresh butter
Mouth – spices and butter carry through. Very long in the mouth, and well balanced.

Tendil and Lombardi are relative newcomers to the champagne making business and only launched their first cuvée in 2007. Last year everyone of their cuvées was awarded 90 points or more from Wine Spectator magazine. We have previously tasted their Rosé and Blanc de Blanc cuvées and eagerly anticipated the Blanc de Noir tasting.
This particular cuvée spends 24 months on lees before disgorgment, giving it a remarkable freshness.
Colour – Light gold
Bubbles – fine
Nose – apple, pear, toast, anise, rose
Mouth – slightly bitter redcurrant, blood orange. Long on the mouth and very robust.

Paul Déthune is made from the much sought after grand cru grapes. The house is situated in Ambonnay – famous for the soil which gives a distinctive quality to its pinot noir. The blanc de noir is elaborated and aged in oak barrels, following the oldest wine-making traditions of the Champagne region.
Colour – Golden, with a tinge of copper
Bubbles – fine, slow
Nose – vanilla, candied fruit, spice, earthy
Mouth – candied fruit, honey. Would pair very well with game.
